Toasted Hazelnuts and Salt
Organic Premium Cacao, Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic Toasted Hazelnuts, Himalayan Pink Salt
At this point in time, I’m a sucker for just about anything that says it has Hazelnuts in it. So when I spotted this vegan chocolate bar with hazelnuts and salt I needed to try it.
I really like the brown bag style of the packaging and the simple design. I could easily tell this brand apart from all of the other ones displayed around it, and even with the different designs on the packages for each flavor, you could tell that they were all made by the same company. So 10/10 on packaging as far as I’m concerned.
This review is going to be short and sweet. Because I really liked this bar and only have one negative thing to say about it. One of my hazelnuts had a slightly burnt taste to it. Just kind of over toasty. All the other ones were perfect. I might be a little biased, because of how much I love hazelnut.
And this bar really had a great nutty flavor. Not too strong and not too mild. Just a lovely amount of hazelnut flavor. You can see the little bits of nuts scattered throughout the bar, and I really like the distribution. There’s nice little bits of texture in each bite.
There’s salt flecked throughout the bar as well. Little bursts of salty goodness that enhance the flavor of the chocolate and the hazelnut.
The bar was melty and just barely threatening to melt on skin contact. It’s not the smoothest bar, but I think a lot of that has to do with the texture from the nuts and the salt. Any non chocolate texture was easily identifiable as either of those two things. It’s an interesting mouth feel if you like different textures in your foods.
The actual flavor of the chocolate is somewhat hard to ascertain, mostly because of the salt, and the hazelnut. I liked it though. There was nothing bitter, or astringent about it. It melded well with the other flavors of the bar.
Salt, nuts, and chocolate. I really can’t think of many other better combinations. Maybe paid holidays and sleeping in?
Cocoa Parlor offers a number of different flavors and i’m looking forward to trying at least a few of them in the future. They offer both vegan and non-vegan(but mainly vegan), so keep an eye out for that if that makes a different for you.
